visiting Grandma Judy at the hospital

Last week we visited Grandma Judy in the hospital after her hip replacement surgery. The boys were eager to eat all of the special treats and candy we brought her.

Benjamin got his ear tubes put in that morning also but didn't seem fazed at all by having had his own surgery. Jill studies the x rays showing the new hip.

Good thing there is a family lounge to hang out where the boys can run all around. We are thankful that Grandma Judy is recovering well so far.

feeding the sickies

Noah and Isaac spent much of the past few weeks fighting some kind of a stomach bug. After over a week of missing our normal activities (playdates, mom's service group at church, Bible study, working childcare at the gym, etc...), I finally took them to the doctor.

The doctor asked if I was feeding them the BRAT (Bananas-Rice-Applesauce-Toast) diet. I said, "yes," as I handed Isaac a handful of Goldfish crackers and a sippy cup of milk....

He said I needed to really do the BRAT diet exclusively. Ok, fine.

Would you like more carbs, Isaac?

No more milk. Noah didn't mind the Powerade that Grandma Judy brought over either. The boys were drinking a store brand Pedialyte and lots of water.

Thankfully they improved within a couple of days, and we were able to return to our normal activities.

First ear infection

Well just a quick update to say we took Noah to the doctor today and he has an ear infection. This is his first time to be sick, other than just a cold or cough. Poor little guy, no wonder he has been so fussy the last couple of days! He is on antibiotics and seems to be feeling better already. =) I am finishing up the same antibiotics from a sinus infection last week. Needless to say, we did not go to the gym today; thankfully one of my co-workers was able to fill in for me.

While we were in the doctor's office, he was very interested in the doctor's stethoscope and other medical tools. He cooperated very well, as usual. His weight is 24 lbs, 4 oz. We pushed the well-baby check up and shots (12 month check) back two more weeks since it will also be a follow-up for Noah's ear infection.

Poor Baby

Noah has had a cold for a week or so, but this weekend he officially had his first fever.  We're not quite sure of it's cause, but it has created a miserable environment for our family, especially at night.  We've given him infant tylenol to help him out, and it seems to make him groggy.  But poor Noah can't sleep because his nose is so stuffy, nor can he suck a pacifier or anything else!  So he just cries because he is miserable.  Jason and I have taken turns getting up with him a total of about 4-6 times during the night for the past two nights.  We are very ready for him to be healthy again!
