making easter eggs

Today we had fun coloring easter eggs with things we already had around the house.

Coffee, spices, teas, cocoa, grape jelly, and cookie sprinkles

(Not sure why my picture won't rotate...)

We dissolved the powders with some hot water in individual mugs and added a splash of vinegar to each mug.

We added boiled eggs carefully.....and waited.

Gotta have cute helpers to do this!

I thought the eggs turned out pretty well for trying this out on the fly.

We got a few speckled eggs (because mommy didn't dissolve the spices enough??). We got a nice variety though. The gray/purple (grape jelly) one on the farthest right says "Noah" that I wrote in white crayon before dipping. Most of the greens are from the cookie sprinkles.

Isaac had fun counting the eggs. He says, "Two, Three, Two, Three...."

The best part was the eggs were on sale and I had a coupon. So a good little 85-cent activity. =)

colts games

Jason and I enjoyed our first ever date to a Colts game this year for the Colts' first win of the season on December 18. We enjoyed doing something different and fun without our boys.

My dad and brother were also at the game, seated almost directly across the stadium. My cousin Olivia and her husband were there also, and we ran into them at the end of the game.

Later that week, Jason returned to see the second Colts' win of the season on December 22!

This time he took two of our nephews along. They are huge Colts fans and loved the chance to see the game. Several others in my family also joined in. Some of them ended up getting seated in priority seating because my mom was using a wheelchair after her hip replacement surgery.

Caleb is 10 years old and Elijah is almost 8. When they were dropped off at our house to leave for the (very late evening) game, Noah realized what was happening and cried, asking for a ticket to see the Colts game. Poor buddy....maybe another time, Noah! (I did let him stay up late and watch the first quarter on TV though....)

Noah's First Christmas Program

Noah got to sing in his first Christmas program, and he had excitedly been practicing his songs all month. He loves going to our Bible study and learning with his two wonderful teachers who volunteer their time each week, Miss Karen and Miss Stacy. He has learned many songs, stories, verses and makes crafts each week.

So back to the Christmas program. When it came time to actually sing them in front of a large crowd at our Bible study (many of them moms and dads snapping pictures in the front like a paparazzi crowd)....

Noah started crying! He cried through all of the songs! His teacher picked him up and held him while the kids sang.

I asked him later why he was crying, and he said that there were too many people watching him. Haha!

Cookie Fun

These photos are from Christmastime. Noah and I made lots of cookies and special treats this year. Below is peppermint bark, puppy chow and dipped oreos. The peppermint bark was a new recipe that had baker's semi-sweet chocolate on the bottom and white chocolate on top. It was very rich! Of course everyone loves oreos and puppy chow too!

Good thing that time of year only comes around once!

Noah helped a little with the cut out sugar cookies. He helped cut them, put them on the pan, and lick out the bowl after I frosted! :) We made these mostly to give to our neighbors in our new neighborhood.

After a cookie swap with several friends, we had cookie plates that were full of variety. Each friend brought several dozen of one kind of cookie, and then we all traded cookies! I loved the pretzel turtles and the peanut butter fudge.
The four of us spent a Saturday afternoon meeting more of our neighbors and passing out these delicious plates.

Photo Outtakes

Just in case you thought getting the typical Christmas card pictures is easy with kids involved....check out a few of these photo outtakes! Good thing we had patient siblings taking the pictures!

Christmas Marathon Weekend

Christmas weekend was a marathon of family gatherings for us. We celebrated Christmas six times before it was all said and done.

We're thankful to be part of such great families that just keep growing! (The Rosenberger side will have two more babies in 2011!)
