A Day at the Zoo

On Saturday we took a day trip to the Indy Zoo. It was pretty crowded due to the day of the week, but nevertheless we were able to see almost all of the zoo. We ate lunch outside the front gate, and Noah proceeded to fall asleep in his stroller as soon as we entered the zoo! You can see him sleeping here.
It was a hot afternoon, but we still got some good views of various animals such as this giraffe.

Noah typically takes a two hour afternoon nap, and that day was no different. He missed seeing all of the forest animals as well as the plains animals. (So much for all of that time beforehand showing him pictures of wild animals in his picture books.) He did wake up in time to see the snakes and lizards in the desert biome.

Jason really enjoyed seeing the rhinocerous splash in the mud. These animals are so much larger in person than in a picture!

Finally, Noah is awake. We watched the walrus swimming in the water, and Noah really liked that. We proceeded on to the oceans to see the fish. There was a new addition of a "touch a shark" area where kids can actually pet the small sharks swimming by. Noah had to be pried away from the shark tank. Soon we had to pry him away from the penguins. (I love watching the penguins too, Noah!)

Noah gets to ride on Grandpa Gary's shoulders.

Noah got to pet several different farm animals in the petting zoo. He called every one of them "dog" too. (One of these days he'll catch on that not all animals are dogs.)

We finished the afternoon at the splash park in the zoo. Noah squealed with delight as the cool water sprayed him from various tubes and gadgets. I was pleasantly surprised to see his bravery at going into / near the water. The last time we visited a splash park, he wanted nothing to do with it. Of course, when you pair a running child wearing crocs with wet concrete, inevitably a fall will happen. Grandpa Gary soon fixed the teary eyed Noah and bloody lip with a nice, cold ice cream cone.

It was definitely a fun time had by all.

Summer Fun: 4-H Fair, Swimming & Random

We had lots of fun checking out the animals in the 4-H fairgrounds. Noah enjoyed the rabbits, chicks, and goats... but he was definitely scared of the pigs and a little scared of the horses too.

Katy did teach him how to say "horse" while they were looking at the horses.

He loved trying to reach in to pet the goats. It's cute how he squats down to get on their eye level.

Hanging out. Katy, Me, Ellen, and Melody...ironically only of which Ellen has the actual Rosenberger name...

Katy and Noah at the swimming pool in West Lafayette. Noah loved the slide and the water, and he did a good job keeping his jacket on.

Ellen and Noah.... why does it look like he is pushing out of this hug?

The Nica-style motorcycle...everyone on board and no helmets! The only thing missing is a tiny baby. Of course, in actuality Jason did take only me around the block for my first ride on the bike but we both had helmets on.

The Golfing Gang

In the past several weeks, Jason has been golfing three times. (As opposed to never before...) My younger brother Mark is on his high school's golf team, so he's been bringing along some brothers/brothers-in-law for some extra practice. Jason says he's not very good at golfing, but he really enjoys playing! He says he would like to get a few of his own golf clubs.

Noah (and his cousin Benjamin) tagged along on a trip to the driving range last week, but unfortunately I have no pictures. =(

Lake Cumberland in Kentucky

Here are some fun pictures from our trip to Kentucky the for 5 days of the first week of July. Noah loved "driving" the boat and playing with all of the switches...

I LOVE this picture!

Daddy and Noah enjoying a swim in the lake

Driving the boat again, this time with Grandma

Playing on the tennis courts with random abandoned sports equipment.

Hopping down from the big boy swings
Walking along the dock to watch the ducks and the boats.

Lots of stairs to walk down to the dock!

Enjoying being outdoors taking a walk in the woods.

Swimming in the pool with the borrowed floatie that Noah liked

Love the smile and the spandex suit!

Jason strutting his rooster tail, skiing on one

Cuddled up with Grandma

Having fun in the water in Jake's whale floatie

Noah loved playing in the tube!

16 Months

Noah is growing so quickly, and we are all finding he is abandoning his baby ways. July 10 marked 16 months old for him! It is so exciting for us to watch him grow and change. He is almost always wearing a hat, and he runs for the door when he thinks we're going to go play outside (even if I'm just picking up the paper or watering the flowers).

New words: "What's that?" and "That's cool!" (Or possibly "Let's go!" depending on the translator.)

He also started saying "Shoes" and loves to carry around his flip flops, crocs, or any other shoes he has. One day when I tried on a new pair of shoes for him in a store and then took them off, he cried because he liked the shoes and wanted to keep them on!

His biggest toddler developments lately have involved climbing onto things such as dining room tables, chairs, couches, and pretty much anything else he can find on the floor.... laundry baskets, toys, etc. Noah also finally figured out how to actually ride his little riding toy that you see above, instead of just pushing it around.

In two weeks we will take him to see if he has to have tubes put in his ears. We are hoping and praying that the allergy medication he has been on is helping to clear the fluid in his ears.

Visiting My Grandparents

We had the chance recently to visit my grandparents in Berne. They had not seen Noah since he has been running everywhere, so it was fun to catch up. My grandma is the sweetest person ever. She loves to read, laugh, and keeps the place nice and tidy. My grandpa loves to fish, tell jokes and of course loves his little obnoxious scottie dog, Keisha. They both enjoy spending time with their family and swapping stories.

Noah liked that Keisha was smaller than he is. Noah's word of the day...all day... has been "doggie" and "woof woof"...so it was lots of fun to see him play with a real dog instead of just looking at pictures in books. (Noah was also enthralled by the clanging of the grandfather clock behind him, so much so that he went to study where the gongs were coming from at one point!!)

Noah looks more and more like his daddy every day, like in this picture. My grandpa said that he is a little Liechty, "there's no Rosenberger in him"..... I don' t know, I see a good blend of both Jason and me in him. :)

Noah, by the way, will soon learn that grandmas like to feed him ice cream, as my grandma did while we visited. He had an ice cream sandwich, and he loved it!
